A LIFE-SAVING SKILL — A LIFETIME OF FUN

As a kid, life in South East Queensland often centres around water — mornings at the beach, afternoons in the pool and hinterland holidays by the water. So it’s vital our kids learn essential water safety skills at a young age.

Because of this, we provide Learn to Swim lessons for all children aged 3 months and above. By starting early — and continuing all year round — children get the chance to develop and retain the skills to become safer, more confident swimmers sooner. Plus, it helps improve orientation and water familiarisation.

How often should swim safety lessons be taken?

At Rackley Swimming, every lesson is one step closer to being a safer swimmer. We recommend you take part in formal swimming lessons at least twice a week, and practice at home or in the pool with your parent or carer in-between lessons.

As part of our normal learn to swim program, we undertake 4 'water safety weeks' per year where we focus on survival techniques needed during water emergencies. These lessons are included in your normal learn to swim fees and will be taken at your regular class time.

What are some common pool safety rules?

The most important pool safety rule is never take your eyes off your children when swimming or around the pool. It’s also important to never run around the pool area, and always follow pool guidelines.

How can swimming lessons help children to be safer in the water?

Learn to swim lessons are vital in teaching children water safety skills, floating, and stroke techniques. However learning to swim is only one layer in the SAFER swimming protocol.
